Welcome to the official website of the Garden Club of Windham! We are happily gardening in the town of Windham, Connecticut, which includes Willimantic, North Windham, South Windham and Windham Center. Please continue reading below to learn about our mission statement.

Our Mission

Our mission is to aid in the revitalization of the Town of Windham and its Willimantic Service District through education and the physical improvement of public property via a partnership with the town, which engages citizens to beautify their community and promotes civic responsibility and pride. The Garden Club aims to progressively improve the social capital of Windham and Willimantic by creating attractive public spaces to be used for positive community activities; including cultivating educational, artistic, historic, cultural and environmental resources.

To realize the educational aspect of our mission, we have held children’s planting activities during the Willimantic Third Thursday Street Festival and have speakers to cover a wide range of gardening topics as part of every meeting. To realize the physical improvement of public property, we have created and maintained public spaces with the Town Hall Garden and seasonal wreath, the North Windham School Garden, the Memorial Park Garden, the Main Street Café Town Parking Garden, the Willimantic Victorian Neighborhood Association Corner Pocket Garden, the Garden near Tony’s Pizza, the Willimantic Footbridge Garden, the Jillson Parcel Garden and the Windham Garden on the Bridge.
